Rebecca Lancaster

Rebecca is a contemporary artist based in the South, hailing from the Mississippi Delta. After earning her BFA with Teacher Licensure from Delta State University in 2007, she embarked on a fulfilling career as an art educator. In December 2022, Rebecca furthered her education by obtaining her M.Ed. from Mississippi College. While at MC, she experienced a creative breakthrough, leading to the birth of her "villagers," originally known as twins, brought to life through watercolor, acrylic, pens, and markers. She currently resides in central Mississippi.

Rebecca has been a dedicated member of the Mississippi Art Education Association (MAEA) since 2006. She was recently selected as to receive the 2025 MAEA Bill Poirier Mississippi Art Educator of the Year. She is currently serving as secretary for MAEA and has previously served as Newsletter Editor and Youth Art Month Co-Chair, and has been honored twice as one of MAEA’s Outstanding Educators of the Year. Throughout her career, Rebecca has taken on numerous artistic and leadership roles as well as having been recognized as Teacher of the Month and named STAR Teacher at each school where she has taught. She was recently selected as 2025 Outstanding Young Alumna for the Department of Art for Mississippi College.

 

Her artwork has been exhibited at  Mississippi College, Greenville Arts Council Biennial Show, The Olde Towne Depot, Delta State University, and Mississippi Delta Community College. Additionally, her pieces are included in the permanent collections of both MDCC and Mississippi College.
